What is a BirthDaf?
A BirthDaf is the daf assigned in the Daf Yomi cycle to the Gregorian date on which you were born.
How is it calculated?
We match your Gregorian birth date to a verified Daf Yomi calendar. If you enter a Hebrew date, we convert it to the corresponding Gregorian date.
Do birth time, place, or sunset affect the result?
No. The Daf Yomi daf follows the ordinary daily rhythm—from when people wake up until they go to sleep. It does not change at sunset; for this purpose, the night follows the preceding day. BirthDaf therefore uses the Gregorian calendar date, which is the more appropriate basis for this calculation. Birth time and place do not affect the result.
What if I know only my Hebrew birth date?
Choose Hebrew date and enter the date you know. You can type the year in Hebrew letters—with or without quotation marks—or as a number, and BirthDaf will convert it automatically.
What if I was born before the supported Daf Yomi calendar?
The calculator does not create a backward result. Contact us and we will be glad to help.
Does my BirthDaf define me or predict anything about me?
No. Your BirthDaf is a connection to the Daf Yomi calendar, not a personality test or prediction.
Is my birth date saved?
Not during an ordinary calculation. If you create a personal link, we store the optional name, tractate, daf, and language - not the birth date.
Who can see a personal link?
Anyone who has the link can open it. It will not appear in search engines. In this version, the link is permanent and cannot be deleted.
What is the daf summary?
It is an automatic overview based on Sefaria's source text and linked topics for the daf. It appears only when you request it.
Can the summary contain mistakes?
The overview is built from trusted source data, but it is still automatic and should not replace learning the daf itself.
